Sand and Blocks

Magnolia is loving preschool. Each week we get the schedule of activities for the next week and she insists on reading over the schedule before bed so she knows exactly what she'll be doing at school the next day. We were surprised to hear that one of her favorite things to do was to build with the unit blocks at school. There was even a picture of her working on this giant block structure (she informed me it was a city) in the family letter that came home on Friday. We've seen this interest transfer to home as she's continued to pull out her table blocks to build new and different things.

When we pick Maggie up from preschool the children are outside playing. We generally always find her in the sandbox when we pick her up. We have a fantastic sandbox at our new house, and like with the blocks, we've seen her become very interested in sand play at home as well (as pictured above).

I'd forgotten how much of an impact a social and creative environment can have on a child---I absolutely love watching all these new interests grow!
