Quote of the Day

A Tired Mommy: "Magnolia, why don't you nap?"
Magnolia: "Because I'm a sloppy rester Mommy."
(stated with her cute squishy face and a hand gesture indicating the obviousness of this fact)

Hmmm, Two Babies or One?

They seem to look a bit alike to me...

A Little Tree Nap

I heard Maggie in her tree reading to herself, and then after awhile, nothing. Sure enough, little Moo crawled right into her cozy place of peace and decided to fall asleep.
She's had a great last few days, and seems to be adjusting well now to little brother. We even had a visit from Caitlyn and Isabelle yesterday! When I told her that Isabelle was coming over she started bouncing up and down, and waited by the door for them to arrive. The girls stripped down, got some "fancy" clothes on, and got right to playing. Tomorrow Grandma Tara, Grandma Amoo and Auntie Julie are coming for a visit. She'll be even more surrounded by love!

Peace Tree

So Miss Moo is still a bit emotional lately, which inspired a much needed rearrangement of her playroom, and included bringing down "tree tent" and making it a cozy spot for when she might be upset or just wants to relax. It seems to be working pretty well. She spent a bunch of time in what is now referred to as the "Peace Tree" today. We piled in her favorite books, her blankie, her bean bag chair, and all the lovies. Hopefully the peace tree will bring her some much needed peace and comfort as her mommy remains busy with caring for that new baby brother!

And yes, she believes clothes are optional in Peace Tree.
Apparently you can get more comfortable when naked!

Daddy and Maggie

With Mommy a bit preoccupied with baby River, Daddy and Maggie have been spending a lot of quality time together. She's been asking for so long that Daddy come to co-op kids (one of her favorite weekly activities) and this week it of course worked out perfectly for Daddy to take her. Daddy of course snapped some great photos to share!
Enjoy...
Just so CUTE!

Snack from the coop is required each Tuesday. Lately, she's on a pesto cheese roll kick.

Life as the Big Sister

It's a brother! Which means she's finally a BIG SISTER!
Magnolia was very excited Friday when we woke her up at 7am to tell her that we were heading to the hospital because Baby Brother or Sister was ready to come out. Within a few hours after River's birth, Grandma Crist, Papa and Maggie were able to come visit us. Maggie's first introduction to her baby brother was getting to watch the nurse bathe him right in the delivery room. Maggie of course observed very closely and later had to imitate the nurse's actions with Boy Baby in our hospital room (see picture below).
Maggie's been very enthusiastic about River when she speaks about him, and she even told us that she's "really, really, really happy" she has a baby brother. She's been very gentle with him, and of course LOVES helping change his diapers and other "mommying" tasks.
Of course at other times she's become extremely emotional, and will start crying at the most trivial situations. She also seems to be preoccupied with making sure everyone recognizes that she is there with either screaming, screeching, or even a little hitting. Nothing we didn't expect. We are working on being extra patient, so that we can support her with doing the same.

Here's a glimpse of life as a big sister...

What does swimming have to do with being a big sister?
Well, when family comes to meet the new addition, you get to go swim in the pool at their hotel!
Yippeeee!!

Lounging at the pool with Omah and Daddy

Her first glimpse of baby brother. Papa's holding her as they watch the nurse bathe brother.

Taking little River Roo home! She was so giggly and excited that they got to ride in the back together. The whole two minute drive home she kept Zac and I informed of every movement or sound from River.

Have I mentioned before that she watches things very closely, and imitates exactly??
Here she is in our hospital room washing Boy Baby just as the nurse bathed River.

Guess Who's a BIG Sister??

A post all about life as a big sister coming soon!!!

Waiting for "Maybe a Sister"

Every time any one asks Maggie whether she's getting a brother or sister, she usually responds with "Maybe a sister." Sometimes she'll play it extra safe and say, "Maybe a sister or a brother." We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of that little brother or sister, but we've been keeping extra busy still. Grandma Crist and Papa arrived Thursday afternoon (after an eventful drive up North). We are so lucky that they are able to spend some time with us (and certainly with Maggie) as we welcome our new family member. Maggie is so happy to have them here---there's nothing quite like having your grandma and grandpa with you if mommy and daddy can't be there. Knowing that they are here to support us (and Maggie) is such a comfort.
We've also been continuing with what's left of our weekly routines, now that we're transitioning to a more summer schedule, we enjoyed a wonderful Memorial Day BBQ with the Hacker family last weekend, and we even enjoyed celebrating Maggie's best pal's third birthday yesterday.
So the plan now is to just keep busy, and keep waiting for that much anticipated event, which I have to admit, I won't mind if it happens a little sooner than later!
Here's some recent quick pics I've taken as we've been keeping busy...

Her first DQ blizzard (shared with her pregnant Mommy of course), after another visit to the Palouse Science Discovery Center---she looks as though she just might like it, don't you think?

Boston getting some cuddles with Baby Brother or Sister when Mommy actually gets a free moment to lay down and relax!

Maggie and her new friend Bella enjoying some cake together during our visit to Bella's house for a Memorial Day BBQ. Bella was quite the little host, and Maggie warmed to her quite fast!

Climbing in the trees at East City Park during our walk home from her best pal's (Isabelle) birthday party

Maggie and Isabelle playing with balls---of course with lots of laughing and giggling included!

More Maggie and Isabelle!

Here Isabelle is wiping Maggie's face with a deflated balloon...? This made total sense to the both of them.
Such helpful pals!

Wow! All these events are exhausting!
Maggie thought she would run ahead and take a quick sidewalk rest while waiting for Mommy and Daddy to catch up on our walk home from Isabelle's party!

Pink Puffy Paint!

Magnolia really wanted to make puffy paint so I pulled out all the ingredients for her to go for it! She mixed a huge batch, and had a great time exploring and creating some puffy pink art! She insists on almost everything she creates being pink! How did this happen?? I think Cinderella ate my daughter (although Maggie has no idea who Cinderella is)! She also insists on wearing a dress everyday now! Luckily though, this has motivated her to dress herself again---so bring on the dresses! Now I don't have to hear "I don't dress myself any more, because I only did that when I went to school!" This makes our mornings much more pleasant, and relieves me of some of my guilt of developmental regression from the move!
