Mommy's Daily Entertainment

  • When she walked out of my room tonight with in her little onesie and my rainbow sandals on. Then she gave me this look like, just try and tell me they're yours!!!!
  • When we were shopping at the coop and the lady behind us told her that she liked her purse and asked her what was in it. Maggie responded with "MY phone. Calling my Daddy!" She then dialed up her Daddy and glared at the poor woman.
  • This morning when she squeezed her little butt cheeks together real hard and shouted at me that she had to poop. Then she pooped in the potty and asked to call Grandma Crist and Aunt Sara so she could tell them about it.
  • When she insisted that I follow the giant Power Ball man around the beer garden at Rec Fest, with her shouting "Ball, Mommy. Get Ball." Then of course she wouldn't even say hi to the giant ball man.
  • When I biked home like a maniac so a little one didn't fall asleep in her buggy, just to arrive home lift the cover of a buggy, and take in a little passed out girl that apparently couldn't support her head with her helmet on (her helmet was practically on her knees!) Then as I lifted her up those little eyes popped wide open and she whispered, "Maggie home, get Boston, Maggie Happy." And although it made me smile, I knew that there would be no Maggie nap time for Mommy today!
I don't think a day could get much better than that!
Love you Goosey!

Bestie Neighbors

Have I mentioned that Magnolia adores Parker? Parker comes over to play quite often, especially after Maggie attempts to drag her through the fence. Parker is quite receptive to being bossed around by an almost two year old. Right when she got to our backyard fence Moo grabbed her hand and said, "Parker-Inside, play babies," and with a soft "okay Maggie" the little neighbors headed inside to play babies---in Maggie's crib of course.

Welcome Baby Cousin - Sage!

Magnolia's baby cousin was born yesterday evening! Auntie Sara was a real champ and worked through a 21 hour labor, with no pain medication, to make sure Baby Sage had the best entrance to the world as possible. Of course we've been talking to Magnolia about baby cousin a lot, so Maggie's been really looking forward to meeting her new baby cousin. We had a new baby doll waiting for Maggie when she went to go see baby cousin, which worked out well. Magnolia wasn't overly dramatic (like I expected) about baby cousin entering Maggie territory. She was intrigued by baby cousin, she took a little blue stuffed hippo that her and daddy picked out at the store to baby cousin, she held baby cousin, and even said "Maggie happy, baby cousin" (translation=Maggie's happy because baby cousin is here).

Enjoy the pics of their first introduction.

The last picture is of Maggie taking care of Marley until his family gets home from the hospital. She keeps telling us, "Marley sad, Maggie hold him." For some reason I don't think this makes Marley feel much better. And don't worry Sara---he's not sad, he's been playing with Boston all day, and taking a few breaks in between to bark for some treats!

Poop and Pee-Pee

What's the new BIG topic at our house! Poop and Pee!! Little Magnolia has had a few interesting days. She continues to use the potty when I sit her on it, although I don't actually sit her on it on any sort of regular schedule. Today she even took a big poop in Aunt Sara's potty. I've let her play around quite a bit this week without a diaper on, so that she can start to become a little more aware of when she has to go. Yesterday she wore some new underwear that I bought her around the house (I believe pull-ups confuse children during the toilet training process, so Maggie will be going straight to underwear when she's ready). I figured I'd just pick up a few training underpants, and let her determine when she wanted to try them on and wear them. I had her go pee-pee first on the potty (which she allowed---everything is completely on Maggie's terms lately), and she did amazingly well--no accidents. Tonight she stripped again in the backyard, so I told her could play outside naked, but she'd have to tell me if she had to go potty. Well...first she told me "Maggie, pee-pee!" She then preceded to pee in the grass. I reminded her that she could tell me when she had to go pee or poop, and we could go in and sit on the potty. Then she yelled at me across the lawn "MOMMY, Maggie tooted! This was my clue to take her in and sit her on the potty, but silly Mommy said, "okay Maggie, let Mommy know if you have to go inside and poop in the potty."
A few minutes later..."Mommy?"
"Yes Maggie."
"I pooped!" (insert big Maggie smile here)
And sure enough Magnolia pooped right in the middle of the backyard!
Well not too big a deal I guess. Zac had just picked up Boston's poop, so what's one more poop to pick up, right??

During a portion of the naked outdoor play Magnolia requested that we make her a diaper out of a plastic bag...see pic above!

Little Camper

She did it! Her first official camping trip! She loved it, and I have to admit, it was a lot easier than I expected it to be. Zac was right, she did keep herself very busy out in the wilderness, and she loved every minute of being outdoors (which wasn't too much of a surprise)! She also loved every minute of playing in her new camper, so overall a great success!
Nap time was tough, and it was Daddy who finally got her to take a much needed rest. She went to bed great at the end of the day though, and slept easily throughout the night in the camper.
Highlights of our little camping trip did not include Sara going into labor---still waiting on that one. Boston however, the only Brittany Spaniel who adamantly HATES water, jumped into a bog to chase a chipmunk!
